How Many ThermiVa Treatments Will I Need?

The number of treatments needed may vary from patient to patient. Typically, three ThermiVa treatments sessions performed four to six weeks apart will be required to achieve optimal results. However, many patients notice results after the first treatment.

What Is a ThermiVa Treatment Like?

ThermiVa is a comfortable, in-office treatment performed without anesthesia in approximately 30 minutes or less. After an ultrasound gel is applied, our surgeon will use the specially-designed, soft, S-shaped ThermiVa handpiece, moving the device around to heat the vaginal area with controlled radiofrequency energy.

How Does ThermiVa Work?

ThermiVa is a non-hormonal, noninvasive treatment using a special handpiece approximately 0.5" wide and designed with the patient’s comfort in mind. The handpiece has an active tip that emits radiofrequency energy to gently heat vaginal tissues. When heated, collagen fibers in the tissues contract to tighten muscles and tissues at the vaginal opening and throughout the course of the vagina.

Temperature-controlled radiofrequency energy has been safely used for years in various cosmetic skin-tightening treatments. ThermiVa works on the same principle to stimulate tissue shrinkage, collagen production, and collagen remodeling in the intravaginal area. Like other treatments using radiofrequency energy, ThermiVa stimulates the body’s natural abilities to strengthen and tighten itself through the body’s regenerative process.

The smooth, S-shaped ThermiVa handpiece used to apply radiofrequency heat intravaginally causes vaginal tissues to shrink, restoring tightness, enhancing sexual function, and reducing symptoms associated with prolapse and stress urinary incontinence. The handpiece is also used externally for immediate remodeling of the labia to help restore a woman’s self-confidence in the appearance of the outer lips.

What Is Recovery Like after a ThermiVa Treatment?

One of the benefits of ThermiVa is that it requires no recovery period or downtime and has minimal side effects, if any. Patients can return to their normal activities immediately after the procedure and engage in sexual activity the same day if they so choose.
