Burn & Wound Care
As the region’s primary reconstructive surgeons, treating those requiring the most advanced skills following accidents, burns, severe medical conditions, or infant and adult abnormalities, University Plastic Surgeons physicians serve patients with the most challenging and difficult conditions in the field of plastic surgery. Each physician at University Plastic Surgeons is a member of the faculty of the University of Tennessee College of Medicine in Memphis, and through this association, our physicians staff the burn and wound centers at Regional One Health.
The Wound Center at Regional Medical Center is a regional referral center for wound care and hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBO).
The center provides inpatient and outpatient care for the treatment of a wide range of acute, chronic and non-healing wounds including:
- Diabetic foot ulcers
- Failing skin grafts
- Outpatient burns
- Traumatic wounds
- Venous stasis ulcers
At the Firefighters Burn Center, the physicians from University Plastic Surgeons help burn survivors return to normal, productive lives as quickly as possible. Restorative medicine is available to adolescents (14 and up) and adults devastated by serious burns. University Plastic Surgeons’ doctors at the Firefighters Burn Center are William L. Hickerson, M.D., and Sai Ramakrishna Velamuri, M.D.
